Jason Holmes was first dubbed “DJ Sizzle” whilst on tour with Bronx Hip-Hop outfit The Apostles. Although a Hip-Hop stalwart for the last 12 years, Sizzle grew up around old school folk musicians, and being exposed to a wide variety of music since childhood; has played everything from violin and classical piano to guitar and drums. It is however, his highly technical turntable skills and his love of solid boom bap, as well as emerging genres such as Dubstep and Glitch that has made him the go-to-guy for touring international acts and established Melbourne Hip-Hoppers alike.

Not content with being a talented turntablist and consummate club Dj; Sizzle is an accomplished producer and in addition to using his skills as a multi-instrumentalist also makes use of his trusty MPC and is even known to lay down a rap once in a while. He has also been involved with several community organisations, teaching and workshopping, most recently teaming up with Mary Quinsacara and the Massive Hip Hop Choir.

2010 has been a huge year for Sizzle, touring Australia as DJ for Akil The MC (Jurassic 5) in November. Heʼs also received some of the best support slots Melbourne has to offer, playing along side acts such as Talib Kweli and Jean Grae, DJ Krush and one of the biggest names in Dubstep – Doctor P.
