“Mind Lies” was a new solo show from Ollie Lucas in October 2010.
Originally from Perth, Ollie has worked as a graphic designer and is currently a 2nd year fine art student at RMIT. This is 2nd solo show, the first one being “Man in the Moon” in 2009.
Ollie’s work explores the cerebral phenomena ‘pareidolia’.
“From the day we are born we are hard-wired to see recognizable objects in just about any surface. Pareidolia put simply is seeing images in clouds or hearing hidden messages in music. Through an initial base layer of colour, the paint dictates the movement and composition of work. I then draw what I see; this stage has morphed from a very figurative to now abstract stage. Through this intricate pattern work the viewer is invited to experience their own sense of ‘pareidolia’”
