Sarah Beetson - I Dream In Celluloid

I Dream In Celluloid” is Sarah's 4th solo exhibition, and explores the link between an obsession with film and how this affects her dreams and memories. Through the study of and by recording the content of her recent dreams, backed by extensive research into dream theory; she is archiving and rediscovering memories from childhood, exploring her displaced identity and nationality, and relaying interactions with friends, colleagues, relations and pets; both dead and alive, past and present. She's discovering facts about the essence of her existence via the subconscious, as she progresses through the period of the twenties we call Saturn Returns. She watches a movie every evening, and she's beginning to find elements and themes from these films thrown up into her dreams. With support from RADF, this exhibition will culminate in a visual record of these dreams, a series of larger works, a short animation and a giant digitally printed, hand painted embellished quilt cover. "I Dream In Celluloid" is set to tour The Gold Coast and Melbourne, Australia, London, UK, and Ottawa, Canada in 2011.
